Jeepney Jazz revs up a new set of concerts probing the sound of Philippine jazz with songbird Faye Yupano and bass player Bergan Nuñez, the core duo of Project Yazz. The Singapore-based lifestyle magazine Popspoken listed Project Yazz this year among the top five “underground Filipino musicians” to follow. Project Yazz gained recognition for using modern jazz elements to breathe new life into OPM hits and covers of songs topping international charts. Presented in partnership with Purefoods Deli, Jeepney Jazz offers listeners new renditions of familiar OPM hits at the upcoming concert. Parokya ni Edgar’s “Harana,” for instance, is going to swing in Project Yazz's dancehall arrangement. Bodjie Dasig’s “Sana Dalawa ang Puso Ko” promises to infuse house music with jazz feels. “Isang Linggong Pag-ibig,” the Imelda Papin track with which Yupano galvanized YouTube fans, is set to turn heartache into bittersweetness with her quietly emotional rendition.
